Sulfur + Silver

Happy Hump Day ladies! After a challenging weekend it seems as if this week is moving by so quickly. Work has been uber crazy and it’s surely tepting to get a little overwhelmed and have a mini meltdown. However, I’m in full on beast mode trying to accomplish my tasks. If you’ve been following me for a while then you know I see fashion as an instant mood booster. So today’s look is my way of realsing my inner Girl Boss.

You may recall back in 2013 that high fashion label Prabal Gurung collaborated with Target to release a bold, artistic collection of ready to wear pieces. Each garment told a story and the color palate was vivid – totally not for the fashion faint of heart. The collection literally sold out in no time. I had to ask a co-worker from North Jersey to stop by her local Target to score me the fabulous dress featured here.

This ruffled chiffon number immediatley caught my eye due to the rich sulfer color. I’ve decided to stay organic and add some metallic silver accents and completed the look with a bold tangerine lip. Guess who’s ready to slay the rest of this week? XO

Off Shoulder Top + White Denim

It’s Fri-Yay everyone, woo hoo!! I’m excited to get the weekend started and hang out with some friends I haven’t seen since high school. We have Praise in the Park here in Philly this Saturday at Penn’s Landing (our version of the Bmore Harbor). It’s a concert featuring the nation’s top Gospel artists and it’s absolutely FREE. What a great way for local families to kick off the back to school season!

Since Fridays mean denim at work I’ve decided to sport my white skinnies. They have a high waist and are super comfy. The great thing about denim is that it’s a year round fabric – even this light shade can be worn into fall. If I had to choose the number one trend for this S/S 16 season, I’d say it was off shoulder tops and dresses. I’m sporting the trend today with this light blue number and matching tote.

A neutral sandal and my sunnies mean I’m all set for the day. Hope you have an awesome weekend, see you right back here on Monday! XO

Coral Co-Ord

One of my new favorite things to do before work in the afternoon is to soak up some vitamin D by spending time outdoors in Center City. At times I will visit a local park to eat or pray or head to a fountain to read by the water. On one recent occasion I stopped by 30th Street Station with my fiancé to eat lunch and enjoy the swings. The renovated station has been a hot spot for locals and tourists alike all summer long.

Food trucks line the pavement serving everything from sushi to burritos to chicken and waffles. As if the food wasn’t enticing enough, the area is full of vibrant decor and an inviting mixture of greenery and whimsy. Much like Penn’s Landing, adults can stop adulting (even if just for a lunch break) and enjoy the one and two seater swings. I took a moment to do so myself, not to mention take advantage of the perfect backdrop for my bright outfit of the day.

This fun coordinate set features an almost paint brush abstract pattern set against a bold coral base. I decided not to play it safe with my accessories by adding a neon wristlet and a pair of rhinestone wedges. A fresh wash and go for my recently cut curls and some fun matte lipstick add to the playful vibe and make for a fabulous close up. It’s safe to say I’m not afraid to make a fashion statement. Are you?

Color Block + Stripes

Happy Monday beautiful people! I can’t speak for you but last week was a rough one for me. However, today’s a beand new day. The sun is shining and I woke up – so basically I’m blessed. How about you? There’s lots to do this week, one of which is finally introducing our new reading material for 3rd Quarter devotions. I’m excited about what’s to come for us on this journey, I hope you are too!

Since Monday’s generally get a bad rap for being gloomy I’ve decided to brighten up my mood and hopefully yours by sporting a bold outfit. A great mix of comfort and style, I’ve paired a cotton striped skirt with a bold top. The contrast is eye catching and the comfy wedges mean I can be fabulous all day, even while traveling on the train. To top it off I’ve added a bold clutch and a leather belt to cinch the waist. Color has an amazing effect on our senses, and this combination has me ready to slay and take on the work week. Xoxo!

Brunch & Bloggers

In the past two years I’ve made a conscious decision to try and connect with other creatives in my city. Since then I’ve met some very dope bloggers with various backgrounds. While there’s always the occasional handful whose idea of “networking” is more about half priced drinks than building relationships, the majority have inspired me to grow and establish my brand. A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of having Saturday brunch with a group much like the latter.

Iesha Thompson, a local fashion and lifestyle blogger reached out to several local creatives with the goal of creating a network of bloggers and photographers to work together on collaborations, campaigns, and special  events. At our recent gathering I got to meet her along with four other fabulous Philly fashionistas: Tivoli, Hara, Amanda, and Macarena. The four of us enjoyed a scrumptious brunch (best french toast ever) at Bank & Bourbon inside the Lowes hotel where we were joined by photographer and momprenuer Taylor, the lovely soul responsible for these dope photos.

My look for our brunch features one of my favorite summer shirt dresses by Philly boutique Smak Parlour and booties by Bebe. The thin fabric was perfect for 90 degree weatherwhile my Rampage tote was big enough to carry my walking flats. So cheers to meeting new friends and building community. Take a look at each of these lovely ladies’ websites listed below and follow them on social! XO – Kira

Floral Skater Dress

So I woke up yesterday and umm, apparently it’s August. Anybody know where the first half of the year went? No seriously – everything is a blur. In any case, we have about six or seven weeks of summer left so let’s make the most of it and have some fun! I plan on hitting up some local ice cream shops to beat the heat and I still have to visit at least one beach before the fall.

While the fall is my absolute favorite time of year I am intentionally trying to enjoy this summer. I’ve even stopped reciting how much I hate the sumer and it’s blistering heat. Rather than be perpetually annoyed at the humidity and the heatwaves, I’ve decided to focus on slaying summer fashion. Yes, I’ve made it my mission to dress happy and therefore, feel happy in this heat.

Today’s look is no exception. A few years back I purchased this skater dress from Daffy’s for about $20 bucks. I absolutely love the fit and the cross back, not to mention the pattern. The red and hot pink poppies stand out against the white base. This little number is perfect with flats and a bolero for day or the heels featured here and a clutch for night.
